Giveaway-Art Block!

In the spirit of the season, I've decided to host a giveaway! But, in order to make this fun, and in light of a recent negative moment I experienced, I'd like to hear about a time you had to "rise above" a situation, take the high road, so to speak- where you kept your cool and just let it go.

***(ammended 12/16, since this giveaway ends tomorrow, and there haven't been many posts-this is my first giveaway after all and I am learning how to promote this kind of thing-I'm opening up the comments to "why would you like to own this block or where would you display it?"***

So, list your comments here, and on Thursday, December 17, I will choose the best response (in my humble opinion) and the winner will receive my Been Caught Stealing block from my shop. A little treasure for those of you who enjoy dreamy, whimsical things like that. Open to USA residents only! Thanks!

From Jenn Purdy:
I was a doula at a birth this year where the mom was being pressured to use pitocin augmentation, which she did not need. The doc walks in, goes straight to the monitor and starts counting graph lines that measure contraction length (an irrelevant task since there was no pitocin in use). Then she turns to the woman, who was 8 cm dilated and doing ... See Morefine, and says "We're concerned about infection, so in 6 hours we will need to give you antibiotics." Then she left. It was all I could do to not start swearing at her! Did she really think that mom would still be in labor in 6 hours?! Such obvious intimidation. We all kept our cool and laughed about it. My client had the baby less than 2 hours later.

I would love to win this, because I would use it in my classroom! I am an English and Journalism teacher at a small town high school in North Carolina. I am always looking for new ways to inspire the kids and bring out their creativity. It would be very easy for me to get my hands on reclaimed wood, so I would use this in my classroom as a class project at the beginning of the 2nd semester, which starts right after Christmas! I would ask them to paint something that represents who they are INSIDE, and then they can share it with the class! Thank you for creating such inspiring art!

The time that instantly comes to mind is when someone I considered a dear friend betrayed me, and was saying things that were not true.

It can be hard to take the high road, because it can also be a longer road--but in the end, you come out with your dignity, and you can have a peace about the situation.

Which definitely beats feeling like you need a chemical shower to get all the nasty off!

I can think of 1,000 times I have kept my mouth shut and took the high road. I was going to post one in particular but then decided to once again - take the high road and let it go......

This art block is wonderful Jen! If I won this Art block I would give this to my 8 year old daughter for Christmas to put in her room. It has all her favorite colors and the cute girl with the crown, stars and butterfly's fits her perfect girly outlook and attitude. I would then ask her if I could borrow it for a day to show my illustration students at SCAD as not only an example of materials and techniques but also a smart business decision to create small affordable works of art for the common folk. I would promote your etsy store and website every chance I get. If I did not win I would rise above it and promote your site anyway ;-)

I would display this block in our sunroom. Such a bright happy work that would be happy with the plants and the books we have there.
